In a modern world where the supernatural barely coexists with humanity, a mysterious creature wraps the earth in a protective veil, branding its chosen with a mark of its own blood smeared white across their cheekbones. They are reviled as monsters when their powers come to light, torn down by society into "subnaturals" when the prefix "super" felt too reverential for many. Corralled into special institutions, those who cooperated live like prisoners. Those who did not found bullets their parting gift.
In one of these institutions is Christmas Halvost, an unfortunate boy whose power allows him to heal others only if he spills his own blood. A valuable commodity in a world gone mad, he fights to stay sane as the secrets of The Slumber now slowly begin to unravel.
