Description

Picture from a duel on demiart.ru (I won)

Tsarevna is the same as princess in Russian history.

Both story and character design belong to me.

Description (sorry for my English, feel free to correct me!):
There is dryad in every tree and there is tsarevna in every copper vein. Tsarevnas are not monuments, they are living, sensible creatures. They can move, even through rock, but very, very slow, unnoticeable for eyes. So the rocks are their clothes, their home and their only defense.
People can't see them, they just see the copper veins instead. So they don't know that they are slowly and excruciatingly killing the living creature.
Usually tsarevnas don't appear on the surface all the way, so they have enough time to escape, losing only their braid part of the jewellery. However, this tsarevna is not so lucky.
By the way, not only their bodies move slowly, but also their tears. So by the time the first tear fall, both of her legs will be long lost.

Ah, I'm not a great painter myself, but I hope I can be of some help! I don't write critiques often, but when I do I try to point out good things and some things that may need a bit of work. Sorry about the wordiness.. ^^'

I'm always interested in a good mythology, and especially one that is told by artist interpretation. Personally I've never heard of this legend, and I think it was an excellent decision. Onto the stylistic choice, I notice a distinct personally to your works in the way that the brush strokes, although rough, are very calculated and intentional. In the end it doesn't matter as long as an idea is present, which it is in this piece. The emotion in the Tsarevna's face is what I would describe as hopeless and very fearful. I think the choice of emotion is a very good one, because as Tsarevnas move very slowly she wouldn't have come close to the point of acceptance of death. The audience feels sorry for her but the miners aren't shown to be evil or having greedy intentions. It evokes a feeling of sorrow instead of hatred towards the humans, like a LOT of social commentaries do, which is a bit of a refreshing change to me...

Moving onto the smaller details, I would suggest more of a sense of size proportion. The person mining her foot is about the same size as the person driving the horse although one is farther away. The pickaxe lying on the ground looks enourmous compared to the driver as well. However, some really awesome details are present as well, such as the copper shading on her limbs and her copper nails. I love the way the clothing folds blend into the rock cliff, suggesting she is part of the stone herself. And lastly, her crown is beautifully ornate. Overall I love this painting a ton and I hope to see more like it! (:
